RMT election for General Secretary

A left-winger, Greg Tucker, is standing against Jimmy Knapp in the forthcoming ballot for RMT General Secretary. Greg is calling for a fight against tube privatisation, for rail renationalistion and for improved conditions. He believes that the RMT needs to be strengthend by a strong recruitment campaign and by building a union of activists to oppose the bosses.

If elected he would work with other trade unions to oppose anti-union laws. He said: "The union needs a strong leadership determined to build a democratic, fighting union. The key to our future is developing an industrial strategy that recruits rail workers and rebuilds our organisation in the face of (current) attacks".
