“Delegates to the 1997 Brighton Labour Party Conference, including delegated representatives of the affiliated societies, should vote against the Partnership in Power proposals unless the leadership makes an unequivocal commitment to further consultation that is sufficient to satisfy members’ demands for the highest standards of transparency and reasoned debate on all aspects of the reforms. Delegates should vote for delay and then, if a motion on delay is remitted or not carried, delegates should vote against the proposals”.
